Tel Aviv Travel Diary 

How we spent 6 nights in Tel Avi with two toddlers.

Saturday

Flew out of London Heathrow Terminal 5 on an evening flight. 

The kids let off some extra steam in the softplay area before we headed to the lounge.

We got to enjoy snacks and a light meal at the BA Lounge before settling in for a very comfortable flight over to Tel Aviv. They both slept for most of the flight leaving me to enjoy a movie, food and few winks.

Sunday

Landed early morning and got a taxi from outside the airport to our Air BnB downtown near Gordon Beach, the taxi driver was very eager to hear all about the royal wedding.

Arrived to our apartment to leave our luggage behind before taking a walk along the beachfront to 

Salva Vida for our first Israeli Breakfast. Normally sundays are a normal working day in Israel however this particular sunday was a public holiday for Shavout. 

We then explored the local neighbourhood with a long walk before stopping yet again for more food. The kids did not eat much at breakfast so this was a perfect chance for them to enjoy some chocolate french toast and since I did not sleep much on the flight I was ready for another coffee of the day. Mr S however had a beautiful sleep on his flat bed in the sky so opted for a fresh juice instead. 

We then headed back to check out our apartment and freshen up. Both of the kids just love exploring hotel rooms and apartments.

We all had a little rest before going off to explore Spiegel Park and watching the sunset. For dinner we visited Halevantini, which was delicious especially the lamb Kofte and chicken Shwarama. Served without any fuss, letting the food and flavours do all the talking. On the way home we stopped at the local supermarket to grab bits for breakfast and I was very shocked at how expensive groceries were, for around £30 we got some bread, cheese, ham, eggs, milk and two ice creams. Luckily I travel with a lot of snacks since having kids so this helped, especially since for example the Coco Pops I brought for £1.50 here were around £6 in Tel Aviv. 

Monday

After a lazy start to the day and leisurely breakfast at home, we headed out,  to spend the day at the beach. You can hire both sun loungers and sun chairs, we opted for the chairs since we knew we would not be lounging much. The sand was soo soft and there was lots of shade for the little one to play whilst her big brother enjoyed the warm sea. For lunch we had brought a picnic with us which also kept the kids entertained whilst we got to eat.

We then headed home for showers and naps before getting ready for dinner. Most people eat quite late in Tel Aviv which was great for us as it meant the kids got to have a long afternoon nap and were quite hungry by the time we ate. For our second evening we choose to eat pizza at Nonno Angelo, followed by desert at Topya. 

Tuesday 

We started the day at Benedicts for my birthday brunch, a 24 hour breakfast cafe that I wish comes to London. It was all so delicious, we then walked down Rothschild Boulevard, stopping very often to let the kids play. It was great to explore the White City part of Tel Aviv. Enjoying a coffee at Rothschild Coffee Kiosk. 

We then headed into Sarona Market and enjoyed an ice-cream from the Gelato Factory, the kids really made the most of all the outdoor space and play areas here. We spent a lazy afternoon enjoying drinks and nibbles at Pardiso before heading back home for more naps and showers. 

For dinner we headed to Gabi Falafel for one of my favourite meals of the trip, it was soo hot even in the evening that the little one had to dine al fresco in the nude. A final ice cream stop at Tamara for Cocunut and Chocolate Ice Lollies to cool down. 

Wednesday

Time for a bit of culture so we headed off to the Old Town to explore the clock tower, great views and pastries from Abouelafia Bakery. For lunch we headed to the Marina to the Old Man by the Sea to enjoy the iconic number of salads they present to you upon arrival. 

After a huge lunch we caught a taxi back to the apartment before heading out to enjoy a picnic and watch the sunset in Independence Park. We also got to witness a proposal before grabbing some baklava for desert on our way home.

Thursday

Our final full day here so we decided to spend it enjoying the beach, it was a great day that actually was very relaxing. For lunch we grabbed McDonalds which was just opposite, two meals plus a kids meal came in at around £35.  For our final dinner we headed to Olive Korner and since then I just love Rocket Salads.

Friday.

Our last day here and we were all very sad to be leaving, the cafe lifestyle, open spaces and pristine beaches made us feel right at home straight away. For our last brunch we headed to Lehem & Co, before grabbing a Babka and heading to the airport to catch our flight home.
